Montanez will never live up to the expectations that come along with being the third overall pick in the 2000 draft, but he's closer than he's ever been at giving the Cubs a return on their investment. Converted to the outfield from shortstop two years ago, Montanez is now leading the Southern League in batting with 368/.441/.474 numbers.
