Nine and Ten Demoted
Two of my personal top 10 favorite Cubs' minor leaguers were demoted today from AAA Iowa to AA West Tennessee according to this Baseball America article.
Adam Greenberg (#10 on my list) had only 6 at-bats for Iowa going 1-6.
Brandon Sing (#9 on my list) was hitting just 182/308/338
No word has been given yet on who will be called up to Iowa. Might it be Luis Montanez who was named Southern League player of the week? If it is, it will be curious to see how he responds. In every other situation where Montanez has received a mid-year callup his numbers have significantly fallen off.
Update: Rumor has it that indeed Luis Montanez and Micah Hoffpauir have been called up to Iowa. Hoffpauir had hit 10 HRs at West Tennessee so it seems like the right move for all parties involved.
