Minor League Update
Iowa 4 Oklahoma 2 - Felix Pie returned to the leadoff position and was unimpressive going 0-4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Rich Hill continues to dominate AAA Iowa going 7 innings giving up 2 ER and striking out 7. Hill now has an ERA of 2.42 and has 61 Ks in 44.2 innings and a WHIP under 1.
West Tenn 7 Tennessee 1 - Eric Patterson went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs while Chris Walker finished with 2 hits in 4 at-bats as well. Brian Dopirak was not in the lineup, but hopefully this is only because he was a little sore after his return to the field.
Daytona 8 Fort Myers 4 - Ryan Harvey and Jake Fox both went 1-4 with a HR and 2 RBIs and Harvey is slowly but surely bringing his numbers back to respectability. Matt Craig went 2-4 with a triple, double, and 4 RBIs. Justin Berg (4-4) took the win going 6 innings, scattering 10 hits, and 4 ER.
Fort Wayne 6 Peoria 0 - Raul Valdez was the only Chief to have 2 hits on Sunday and Mitch Atkins took his first loss of the year. Atkins (4-1) pitched 5 innings, struck out 5, and gave up 3 runs, but only 1 ER.
Notes: Carlos Marmol made his major league debut for the Cubs yesterday and pitched 2 innings retiring 6 of the 7 batters he faced and struck out 3. According the Sun-Times, Dusty Baker implies Marmol will be used in long relief.
