What Caught My Eyes

I'm in the middle of a busy morning at work, so I figured I would just pass on what caught my eyes in the Cubs system yesterday.

  • Felix Pie continued to bat down in the order but did manage to go 3-4 and drive in a couple runs. On the bad side of things, he struck out his only at bat without a hit and got picked off as well.
  • Geovanny Soto, who is getting ready for a possible callup when Michael Barrett serves his suspension, went 2-3 and raised his average to .285. On this note, check out a very interesting article over at the Cub Reporter on this possible roster move and the affects it will have.
  • Mark Holliman pitched 7 shutout innings for the Daytona Cubs in their 1-0 win, but got a no decision. Holliman's H/9 innings sits at around 6.5 right now which is pretty impressive.
  • Ryan Norwood and Mark Reed both added 2 hits for the Peoria Chiefs while Norwood hit his 6th HR of the year.
In the bigs, the Cubs start a series with the Cards this weekend, here's hoping the Cubs can recapture that feeling they had way back in April when they swept the Cards at home. Here are a few pictures to recapture the feeling that surrounded Cubs baseball then:

Seems like years ago, doesn't it?
