After a week off theeeyyyy'rreee baaaacccckkkk! Your Monday Morning Bullets...
  • Felix Pie went 3-11 with 2 doubles and 2 walks over the weekend. For August, Pie has a line of 333/393/604, while for the season his line is 281/341/445.
  • Ryan Harvey went 3-9 over the weekend with his 20th HR of the year, which also brought him to 83 RBIs on the year. After a month of July where Harvey boasted an OPS of 1000, Harvey hasn't dropped off to much in August where he has an OPS of 921. On top of that Harvey is having by far his best month with regard to his BB/K rate. In August, Harvey has walked a season high 8 times in a month, while striking out a season low 19 times in a month.
  • Scott Moore went 5-10 this weekend, adding his 22nd HR of the year. Moore is having a great August as well, where he has hit 6 HRs and currently has an OPS of 1056.
  • Russ Canzler and Tyler Colvin had big Sundays for Boise. Canzler hit his 7th HR of August, a month in which he also has 27 RBIs, while Colvin added his 6th HR of the year. In the same game, Mark Pawelek earned his 3rd win of the season, going 5 innings, giving up 4 hits, 1 ER, 1 walk, and struck out 6.
  • Here is an update on the Boise Hawks and their playoff race.
  • Mitch Atkins suffered his 4th loss of the season on Sunday, dropping to 12-4. Atkins went 5 innings, giving up 7 hits, 4 ER, 2 walks, and struck out 3. It was the first start Atkins had given up at least 4 ERs since early July.
  • Who should start in center next year, Felix Pie or Juan Pierre? Frequent poster, Kyle Johansen answered that question over at CubsHub.com, so check it out!

  • No word on exactly how hard Ceda was throwing in his start for Boise, but I know he throws a pretty straight fastball that sits in the high 90s.

As far as Colvin, he's cooled down a bit, with his average falling into the 270s and 280s. Best case scenario sees Colvin contributing in late 2008.

Like you, I'm a Murton fan, but I'm concerned he is going to get pushed to the bench in lieu of Carlos Lee or some other power producing outfielder. That being said, Murton is a guy that has shown nice poise and character, so I wouldn't expect that to hurt his production. He seems to be a guy that will do what it takes to succeed, and typically guys that have the makeup, skillset, and drive end up succeeding.
