Not Exactly Breaking News

So, the Cubs took Tyler Colvin from Clemson with the 13th pick overall in the MLB Draft.

Colvin is said to be very athletic CF who is aggressive at the plate and who should grow into his power. Tyler, will you please look into the mirror and say hello to Felix Pie!

This seems to be an odd pick in my mind, but obviously Tim Wilken knows what he is doing. On one hand I am pleased that the Cubs selected a college position player, but on the other it certainly seems like we have this guy already. I would have personally selected Kyle Drabek, but that is beside the point.

The Cubs next pick is at #149, where they are reportedly going to select Notre Dame WR/Pitcher Jeff Samardzija (a big thank you to my 2 friends Copy & Paste). Jeff Samardzija (C & P) will warrant a sizeable signing bonus to not play football this next year, which possibly explains why the Cubs selected a 2nd round talent, Colvin, with their first selection.
