Minor League Playoff Report

9/8/06
Beloit 4 Peoria 3 - Jesus Valdez went 2-4 with a double Robinson Chirinos went 1-3 with a RBI, a walk, and 2 runs scored. On the mound, Jesse Estrada went 7 innings, giving up just 2 hits, 2 ERs, 4 walks, and struck out 5. Estrada left with the game tied, and Justin Rayborn (0-1) took the loss in relief. Closer, Matt Avery pitched an inning giving up just a walk. This loss ended Peoria's season, here's a recap from InsideTheIvy.com.

Salem-Keizer 5 Boise 0 - Jose Ceda (0-1) pitched poorly taking the loss, going 4.1 IP, giving up 7 hits, 5 ERs, 1 walk, and striking out 3. For the 19 year old, Ceda, it was only his 2nd start giving up a run since being acquired by the Cubs organization. At the plate, the Hawks managed only 3 hits, 2 of which were by Tyler Colvin, including a double.

Salem-Keizer 2 Boise 1 - Bill Muldowney pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 ER, 2 walks, and struck out 3, and Jason Ruhlman pitched 4.1 shutout innings giving up 3 hits, no walks and striking out 4, but it still wasn't enough for the normally high powered Hawks offense. Matt Camp went 2-4 with a stolen base and a RBI but Colvin, Canzler, Joseph, and Lansford combined to go 1-19 at the plate.

Salem-Keizer 6 Boise 4 - Five Boise Hawks had 2 hits, in their 13 hit attack, but the Hawks could still only manage a 4 run output in the 8th inning. Russ Canzler went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, and Tyler Colvin went 2-4 capping off a postseason where he hit .412. Jacob Renshaw (0-1) went 3 innings, giving up 5 hits, 3 ERs, 3 walks, and striking out 4 in the loss. With the loss, the Boise Hawks season is over, losing the series 4-1.
