Back to More of the Same

I'm back from my relaxing getaway with the family and it appears Cub Nation is back on an upswing after the Cubs 3 game winning streak. Recent callup, Carlos Marmol was dynamite yesterday against the Reds and now has an ERA of 0.90.

In the minor league system, Felix Pie is batting .262 with an OPS in around 750, which is pretty unimpressive. Brian Dopirak is batting around .250 and finally got his first extra base hit of the season with a double yesterday. Ryan Harvey is batting .209 now, but still has an OPS in the mid 500s.

On the positive side, Mark Reed continues to hit the cover off the ball by going 3-4 and is now hitting .331 on the season although only slugging .419 but his OPS is over 800 now. Also, in AAA, Michael Restovich is also rather hot and now is hitting 327/406/621 with an OPS at 1027. Jake Fox is also on fire as he keeps continuing to dominate the Florida State League and has a line of 303/374/556.

Also, its the draft signing time of the year for the Cubs, and according to the Sun-Times, the Cubs are nearing in on signing Jeff Samardzija. You can follow all of the draft signings on the Baseball America draft database.

First round pick, Tyler Colvin, had a nice day for Clemson in their super regional the other day.
