Weekend Minor League Report

Finally, back home and ready to get back to your regularly scheduled program! As is such, here are your Monday Morning Bullets:
  • Felix Pie, Ryan Harvey, and Jake Fox appear to have broken out of their respective slumps. Take a look:
    • Felix Pie - Pie has his OPS up to 750 with a line of 274/333/417 and has seen his average gradually increase 25 points over the past month and a half. Pie has stolen 7 of his last 8 stolen bases and is 12/22 on the season.
    • Jake Fox - Fox hit multiple HRs on the weekend and now has 5 in AA, and 21 on the season. Fox is hitting .252 and has an OPS over .800 at AA, and seems to be getting comfortable. Despite his initial struggles at West Tennessee, reports say the Cubs were never worried about Fox's bat.
    • Ryan Harvey - Maybe the biggest strides in the Cubs' system have come from Ryan Harvey. After hitting around the Mendoza line for most of the season, Harvey has raised his average to .247 on the year and even took 3 walks this weekend. More than anything, this tells me Harvey is starting to figure things out. Harvey has mentioned lately that he is swinging less with his body and letting his hands do the work.
  • Donald Veal continued his High A dominance this weekend earning a win and raising his numbers to 4-2 at Daytona and lowering his ERA to 1.20 in 52.2 IP. Veal has been labeled the next D-Train over at InsideTheIvy.com.
  • After Tyler Colvin's 12 game hit streak, Colvin has seen his average drop back to .289 in a recent 0-17 slump.
Notes: Usually showing up in Baseball America's Daily Dish is a good thing, not so much for Eric Patterson, who had a rough night on Friday.
