Some Afternoon Notes

A few things caught my eyes that deserved some... you guessed it... (ellipses?), bullet points:

• Four Peoria Chiefs will be promoted after the Midwest League All-Star break. Donnie Veal, Jake Muyco, Jonathan Mota, and Ed Campusano all will promoted to Daytona.
  
• Jeff Samardzija has been given quite a bit of ink, here is some more from Baseball America in their latest Daily Dish. According to these articles, Cubs' scouts clocked Samardzija at 99 in the Big East tournament and also noted an improved slider that they attributed to his selection.
• Jake Fox makes his AA debut today for West Tennessee where the D-Jaxx are playing a double header.
  
• Keeping on the debut topic, Darin Downs of often injured fame, will be starting for the Boise Hawks today.
  
• Russell Canzler, who went 3-3 with a HR, played his first game above Rookie ball yesterday. Canzler was selected in the 30th round as a high schooler in the 2004 draft.
