A Blast from the Past: Part 3

I was following the Iowa Cubs game tonight, mainly to see how Mark Prior is progressing, only to get another blast from the past moment. The left fielder for New Orleans tonight was Tyrell Godwin. In my junior year in high school, I faced Tyrell in an easter baseball tournament in Fayetteville, NC. To this point in my life, he and Brian Roberts (of Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, NC), are the fastest two people I have ever seen.

We crossed paths again when we both went to UNC, and actually played basketball quite a bit together while on campus there. While Godwin is quite the baseball player, and also quite the football player, playing for the Tarheels, his basketball skills leave a lot to be desired.

Tyrell is now playing in the Washington Nationals organization, and is starting to look less and less like he will be anything more than a 4th outfielder at best.
